Henderson-Schweiss Wedding

Map picture
Nothing like a Schweiss wedding.  I know because I have had one!  This was all fun.
The wedding was beautiful.  The couple was beautiful, though i hold a place in my heart for both Cody and Brandi so it couldn't have been anything but.
Aaron and Brent served as Ushers and Kim was a reader.  I was a spectator and amature photographer

After the ceremony, we went outside and Anna, the maid of honor had set up a little German tradition.  The couple had to cut a heart out of a sheet and then walk through it together.  In this case, Cody had to carry Brandi through.

We took a party bus up to St Louis for pictures.  Mia was suppose to go home with Grandpa Kevin but she wanted to go with Daddy so she came along on the Party Bus.  We made Balloon Animals with WATER balloons and almost passed out.  There was beer drinking and dancing.  Swinging from the ceiling and champagne chuggin…

The couple decided to have their pictures taken at Kiener Plaza, one of the greatest photo opps in St Louis and hence one of the most popular Wedding Photo Spots.  We waited for two other wedding parties to finish up and then we were up!  I got some great pics of the wedding party and some amazing pics of Mia!!!

We finally got to the hotel and got all checked in and we were ready to dance!  Dave had flown in from Chicago and met us at the hotel.  I must say, the setup was pretty awesome!  the ballroom was nice and open and surrounded by hotel rooms.  It was pretty cool that you could crawl to your hotel room from the dance floor.  The food was great and then the dancing was on

Nothing like a chicken dance to get the party going

Man Versus Food Day In St Louis

No, we did not get to meet Adam :-( He was here back in 2008. It just so happened that Aaron woke up on Saturday and turned to the travel channel and the St Louis Episode was on. So we decided, since we hadn't been to a single one of these places, it would make for a great day. First, we went to Pappy's Smokehouse for lunch. Aaron and I stood in line for about 45 mins...
We split the ribs with 1/4 lbs of pulled pork, sweet potato fries and FRIED corn on the cob. My ratings: Ribs 9, Pulled Pork 9, Sweet Potato Fries 10, Fried Corn on the Cob 5.

Next, we moved on to Crown Candy Kitchen for a Malt Shake. It had been forever since I had a Malt Shake so I was pretty darn excited .

The result was another waiting line and a good malt shake. We selected the plain vanilla. I remember malts being more "malty" but it was good.

We needed to kill some time so we decided to take a little walk down by the river. Didn't realize that it was up so high!

Cardinals Home Opener

Not much to say about the Home Opener. It was a good game and I had blast. Got to see Kane and Heidi, Jeremy and Nikki and, of course Matt and Amanda and many many other people!

Fire!

So the night before Aaron and I were to run the Go! St Louis Half Marathon, we took to bed early to rest up since we would have to wake up at 4:30 am to make it downtown, find parking and get in line with the 17,000 participants of Sunday's Marathon, Half Marathon and Marathon Relay.  Nearly asleep and watching Shrek III I hear sirens and bolt out of bed (Aaron, of course, heard nothing).  A look out the window revealed a house burning violently and 4 fire trucks.  I shook Aaron awake, grabbed the cat and made arrangements to  evacuate my house.  Silly Krista!  Even the residence of the house next door stay indoors!!!  The scene was awful.  I can't imagine loosing everything like that.  Luckily we immediately discovered that everyone was safely outside.

California Trip

This February, Aaron and I decided to take that trip to Napa that we had been wanting to take for years. We flew into Oakland and drove to Yountville. We spent the first two days visiting various wineries including Alpha Omega, Robert Mondavi, Frank Family Vineyards, Pride Mountain and Terra Valentine. Each winery had it's own charm but I think we enjoyed the wine at Pride and the atmosphere at Terra Valentine the most. Let's just say - more than two days and Aaron and I would have been bored to tears. Next time, we are bringing another wine loving couple along with us. So off we went to San Fransisco.

We stayed in Concord (Aaron had some hotel points) so we jumped on the BART to get into the city. We were kind of winging it, with recommendations from random people we had run into along the way in Napa. We were told to go to 16th and Mission to see the more eclectic area. Who doesn't like a little artsy-fartsiness.... Too bad we were mislead right into somewhere I didn't want to be. We hailed a cab and booked it to the Ferry Building, all the while the cabby is laughing at his clueless tourist passengers. We hung at the farmers market, walked along embarcadero st visiting all the piers all the way down to Fisherman's Wharf
The Following day we decided to see the sites outside the city (which involves crossing 5 bridges from beginning to end). We started in Tiburon, which in the early morning with a dense fog reminded me a little of Cape Cod. We sat, had a beer, some clam chowder b/c it felt appropriate and hung out with the birds.

We proceeded across ANOTHER bridge into Saulsalito. Not a whole lot there except what I imagine was a great little shopping area and some great restaurants. It was so nice out - we just sat along the cost. We met a rock balancer...

We headed back to the city to make our Night tour of Alcatraz. I once wrote a paper about Alcatraz and was THRILLED to have the opportunity to actually visit the Rock.

And that is the extent of my California Trip 2010.
